Finally, finally I’m able to let you guys know what we’ve been up to for the last couple of months.
We’ve teamed up with MD Anderson Cooper Cancer Center to open our first brick and mortar store! Last night we celebrated the grand opening of the Janet Knowles Breast Cancer Center and opened our doors for the first time. We are located in the waiting room and offer patients a little distraction as they wait to see their doctors.
It’s amazing to see all the hard work pay off but what I’m most excited about is serving patients. We get so busy with our work fulfilling the boxes that it’s easy to forget there are people on the other side who are dealing with the chaos of cancer.
I was there yesterday as we opened our doors and got to spend time with many of the patients. I chatted with a woman on her third breast cancer diagnosis, someone who knows this world very well. I also spent time talking to young woman carrying the dreaded “new patient folder.” One thing is clear… we all need to be reminded that we are strong enough. No matter where you are in the process of cancer it’s essential to have that confidence. I loved seeing the women leaving with our products and knowing that even in the most minuet way we could help to add some strength to their lives.
